TAPROOT Prgram
Taproot is a pilot program designed to create a nurturing environment for young, pregnant women through a series of pre and post-natal peer group sessions. Sessions will be scheduled every other week, starting at week 24 of pregnancy, and will include pre-natal yoga, nutrition, childbirth education, lactation, and pregnancy adjustment, among other topics, as well as a supportive peer group for questions and discussion. During the sessions, a portion of the pre-natal care will be conducted in a group setting.
The Taproot Program will allow young, first-time moms to explore the physical and emotional changes that pregnancy brings about, and learn important health and wellness techniques through movement, education, and discussion. Our goal is for pregnancy to become a positive, transformative, and self-reflective time, in which physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing are a top priority.
Starting in summer 2009, we will offer our first pilot program to 10 – 12 pregnant women between the ages of 18-25. For more information, contact Julie Starr at 802.862.2333 or Julie@dhatrifoundation.org.
